Introduction to the Course
This is my third year enrolling in the PLTW Engineering course program, and this year I am taking the class called the Priciple of Engineering which have guided me through a comprehensive way of exploring all aspects of engineering, from documentations on the engineering notebook, to coding and to the calculations of structual properties, etc.
This class through various projects, has effectively helped us to master the engineering concepts learned in classrom by applying them constantly in a interactive and fun hands-on experience. This course, although wasn't as concept-intensive as my previous two engineering classes for my high school years, it's safe to say that this course definitely has the most distinct way of learning--all through Problem solving based projects and Questions.

Major Topics Covered
The list below documents all the significant projects we have completed this year in the class of POE, click the link for more details.
Our first major project of the year, requires lots of designing and intensive building as well as programing knowledge for it to be done. Since this project required both the building of physical component as well as cortex-control using code, we formed a team with 4 students to get it done more efficiently.

Our last project of year, which involved with creativity and understanding on the physics concepts we learned on truss systems previously. This entire project was done on a computer software, and no physical components were being made,
|
The Insulation project is one of our most interesting project all year in which we were required we build a insulation block made of any renewable objects, with the contraint of thinkness < 1in. Through examination of R values of various materials that were available to us, we were able to create very efficient insulator.

This is one of our first project of the year, designed to get us be familarized with all the crucial small machine control devices, such as the DC. Motors, Line followers, light sensors, potentiometers, bump switches, etc. and the most important of all, coding for the cortex.
